University of Oklahoma
Download Application Form
Every year, the AAPL awards the $1,000 Brock Riddle Memorial Scholarship to one student enrolled in the Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management program at the University of Oklahoma. The Scholarship is focused on financially assisting students in their endeavors in one of these programs. Preference is given to students who are paying for their own education. The Application Period for the Brock Riddle Memorial Scholarship is February 1 to March 31. To apply for the Scholarship, please download the application form above.

The Brock Riddle Scholarship honors the memory of the affable and astute Brock Riddle who passed away in Anchorage in 2006.  At the time of his passing at the age of 48, Brock was the Petroleum Land Manager for Marathon Oil Company in Alaska.  He worked with many of the Alaska Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL) members on Cook Inlet issues and operations throughout his career. He was active in the AAPL during his decade in Alaska where he served as President twice (1998-1999 and 2002-2003) and as the Northwest Regional Director of the American Association of Professional Landmen. Previously, Brock was active with the Oklahoma Association of Petroleum Landmen during his 15 years in Oklahoma.  Brock was also awarded Marathon's Petroleum Land Manager of the Year in 1995 while working in Oklahoma. Brock was a horse racing fan, sports enthusiast, and was an OU football fanatic.  He took great pleasure in time spent with his wife, Gayla, and three children.

Brock Riddle graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Petroleum Land Management (PLM). He was a great supporter of his beloved Sooners and wished to make a contribution back to the place that had given him so much. As a tribute to Brock's contributions to AAPL, a memorial scholarship was established in Brock's name to his alma mater. Every year, a PLM student is chosen from numerous applications to receive a $1,000 scholarship in Brock's name.  Brock and his comradery with other Landmen are remembered and preserved through this annual memoriam.
